The 3rd Agriculture Research Coordination Meeting (ARCM) underway in Gelephu
28 – 30 January 2020, Gelephu: The 3rd Agriculture Research Coordination Meeting is currently taking place in Gelephu. This meeting serves as technical forum for planning, reviewing and endorsing annual research activities. It is a suitable forum that provides critical peer reviews, effective planning and development of annual plans proposed by the Agriculture Research and Development Centres and Central Programs of the Department of Agriculture. The meeting also highlights on emerging issues in agriculture sector and identify the key research needs and priorities.
The Hon’ble Director, Department of Agriculture at the opening session stated that our research also needs to focus on various emerging issues such as human wild life conflicts, irrigation water management and shortage of farm labour to generate appropriate solutions. Further, the Hon’ble Director emphasized on streamlining gender disparity, farm feminization, nutrition and food security issues in the nationally coordinated research trials.
The meeting was attended by various officials from the DoA and will be concluded on 30th January 2020.
